Roots to Grow By!!

“Roots: the saga of an American family,” not only captured and inspired the hearts and minds of an entire generation, it portrayed mankind’s innate, relentless, and everlasting yearning for freedom. The fictional narrative of Roots tells the story of Kunta Kinte, a young man taken from the Gambia River Delta when he was 17 years old and sold into slavery in the American colonies. Kunta was purchased by John Waller and renamed Toby before making several attempts to escape, resulting in brutal punishments; to include the partial amputation of one of his feet. Despite his many hardships, he went on to marry a strong and resourceful woman slave named Bell, and together they had a daughter named Kizzy, whom they loved and protected dearly; so, “Roots,” became known as a tale of resilience, resistance, and new beginnings; which has stood the test of time. It is through our individual roots that our lives begin, grow, change, mature, and have the opportunity to provide an abundance for those in our midst!!

Each Life is a new beginning and I was fortunate to be added in at the tail end of the Plant family tree, where my seedling was planted, watered, fed, and cared for, in its own unique, and creative fashion. It is through the influences of our parents, families, siblings, friends, opponents, buddies, work associates, and casual acquaintances, that our lives are honed and made more whole. It is through the combination and mixing together of the good, the bad, and the ugly, in our lives and times, that we are made stronger, wiser, more resilient, and are given a platform; from which to stand upon and share a meaningful message with those in our midst. Everybody has a story to tell and I am convinced that that is one of the main reasons that we are here at this time and in this place. They say that the seed doesn’t fall far from the tree; and that we should take root, grow, and blossom where we are Planted. Thanks mom and dad!! MONTANA is my home, my roots have taken hold, and I realize that it is never too late to blossom, stand tall, reach toward the sun, grow, and provide an abundance for those in my midst.

These are the Roots that I grow by; they are true, wily, vibrant, and yearning for freedom…
