An Ode to the Wo-man

She came in the dark of night; to usher in the light of day

There was no other way; she had no say, but to play her part from the very start

She did it so well; she got a ribbing, kept on ticking, and from the very beginning

Where oh where would we be if not for the wo-man

There is no man alive today; but for the wo-man who ushered him into the light of a new day

Man came from wo-man: man is in wo-man; and that is the way it's supposed to be

Order, reason, and pleasin' are her birthright; and a strong perch from which to fly high into the sky

Where oh where would we be if not for the wo-man

Home is her fortress, children her calling, and beauty her gift, to the world and beyond

She is like a wise owl sitting in a tree; planning, feeding, nurturing, and protecting

From her strength, born of the river, comes a softness; a kindness, a coo-coo, and a woo-hoo!!

Where oh where would we be if not for the wo-man

Completion is her fulfillment, her vision, her mission, and her prize at the finish line

The journey is her Life; step by step, word by word, and choice by choice, she is given flight

The light beacons her home, like a transponder calling her name; so please take her hand and let us go

Where oh where would we be if not for the wo-man

Lost, hungry, lonely, dirty, and searching for more

That is where we would be, now and forevermore; for we are lacking, deficient, and lonely without

She completes us; she is the light, the bright, and the beauty of our days

So, let us join hands, walk in stride, and celebrate LIFE; a gift from her Creator
