WRIGHT On Brother!
The Wright brothers gave us a first class ticket to the wild blue yonder, by freeing themselves from the constraints of contemporary pioneers in the field of mechanical flight; those who had previously come up short by focusing too heavily on trying to perfect aerodynamic stability rather than getting their craft up into the air; instead, Orville and Wilbur intentionally chose to design a more dynamic flying machine modeled after the flight of a bird. They researched, read, modeled, tested, observed, and refined their thoughts, actions, and processes, to overcome what they had determined to be the three main obstacles to successful mechanical flight: 1. Wings, or lifting surface, 2. Balance or means of control, and 3. Propulsion, or means of propelling the machine forward. They were the first ones to employ the scientific method the Wright way!! They observed, tested, gathered data, refined, and improved upon their craft over time, culminating in the first ever, successful, heavier-than-air, powered airplane; making history with its first flight at Kitty hawk, North Carolina, on December 17, 1903. In the end they had put together the necessary ingredients, built upon years of previous attempts, trials, and tribulations; to bring about the creation of the first successful heavier-than-air powered aircraft, to achieve sustained flight; and this was not an overnight success.
The scientific method forms the bedrock of reliable discovery and understanding of our natural world, by moving away from speculation to demonstrable facts. Here, conclusions are based upon empirical data, not just somebody’s wild idea; making them robust, defensible, and allowing for predictions about future events and outcomes; due to its standardized approach and reproducibility.
Health and wellness are also defined by the scientific method; as we are all living, breathing, walking, talking, laughing, learning, and relating beings; or said another way, we are living test tube trials signed up and enrolled in the most important experiment of our lives. What goes up must come down, what goes in must come out; a body in motion stays in motion, a body at rest stays at rest unless acted upon by some outside forces; and, you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit. The human condition is what has brought us to where we are today; it has been a step-by-step process and it will remain on its current trajectory unless acted upon by some outside forces.
Bird Food for LIFE (BFFL) is one comprehensive outside force, or approach to optimizing our individual health and wellness, which has the potential to change the course of our lives for the better; it began as a dietary consideration modeled after the Bird in Lake Havasu City, AZ, in the year 2022; it was initially all about picking and choosing the foods that we eat, just not over-consuming. Over time, with experimentation, observation, discussion, sharing my story about dropping 60#, speaking, writing more little-stories, and refinement; Bird Food for LIFE has grown to encompass the 7-KEYS of LIFE: Health, Healing, Hope, HUMOR, Happy, Harmony, and Hallelujah, as detailed in the first seven chapters of my first book entitled Bird Food for Life. BFFL is now defined as the little-stories that we tell one another, which have the objective, aim, and desire to lift the other person up to a higher plane; see, Bird Food for LIFE is more than a simple meal plan, it is a way of Life that puts the other person first, takes the focus off the malady, and it has been done the Wright way!!
